Tis the Season to be Jolly!

Sunday, December 7th was the farewell dinner for Elders Young, Monson, Robertson, Malagon and Bautista. We met together early so all could attend the Christmas Devotional at the Stake Center. Monday we greeted our new missionaries, Elders Gray, Broderick, Trevino, Rico, Cruz, De Los Reyes, and Martinez. On Tuesday the changes were made. Elder Rhodehouse left the office as an Asst to become a ZL in Celaya Este for his last change and Elder Maxfield joined the office as the financial secretary in-training. Farewells and Salutations to all. Elder Maxfield is the Elder licking his fingers. Wednesday thru Saturday we had our Christmas Zone Conferences. Dahl Cleek was so good to collect ties from our Porterville Stake for a Christmas Gift to all of our dear Elders. The Hermanas received hair clips that I purchased. We also gave them a cookie plate and Christmas Card with pictures of all our missionaries. I think I made over 800 cookies for this JOLLY SEASON. But after it was all said and done, President Cox and I had such a special feeling of love and appreciation for our missionaries. We were able to personally hug each of them and give them their Christmas gifts...I even had a special missionary-hug handshake that we shared. It was truly a special time for all of us.

Wow what a busy and exciting week--farewells, welcomes and zone conferences with gifts from Mrs. Claus. You take such good care of your missionaries. I am sure they love you both for your devoted service to them and the Lord's children in Leon.

We can't wait for Ryan's brothers to call on Christmas. Can you believe they have been out for 7 months already.

You have been a busy mission mom! I know how good your cookies are, too. What a very special Christmas memory you have made for those leaving the mission, and those coming in. We had a returned missionary speak Sunday. He went to Colorado. He said he arrived on his mission Christmas Eve, walked through the snow, and had a frozen burrito from the gas station for dinner. On Christmas day, he called his family and cried for 45 minutes telling them he didn't know if he could do it. His dad pulled a president Hinckley on him and said "get to work. Lose youself in the work." He had an awesome mission and is an amazing man that any mom and dad would be very proud of. I just pray that Nick wil go on a mission some day. I know it is such a marvelous thing for the individuals and those they serve and teach. I love reading about your experiences. You and Presidente give each other hugs for me. I love you and miss you! Feliz Navidad, mis amigos queridos.
