Seminar

January 13, 2014
I have to preface my writing a bit these days.  I am trying to immerse myself in the Spanish language and I am finding it difficult at time to write in English.  I suppose that this is progress but in the same breath, I hate to lose the English I once had.....time will tell

We began this adventure with our Seminar in Provo, Utah.  We flew in Monday morning the 13th and met with dear friends from our Mexico Mission in Leon.  Ed and Cindy Spencer had served as our area doctor and wife and were such a lifesaver to us there.  We also met up with Brian and Carol Moss who had served in the Tampico Mission.  It was a wonderful time to catch up with each other and share memories of times shared.

The next 3 days we were fed spiritually and physically by the Missionary Department of the Church.  There were 8 of us going to serve in Mission Training Centers.....Spain, Ghana, South Africa, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Brazil and ours in Guatemala.  Twenty-one new Visitor Center Directors were also in attendance with us.  We were taught by the Missionary Executive Council and Executive Directors.  Elder Clark (extended the call) and Elder Martino (set us apart) and their wives were particularly supportive during the seminar.

We arrived home in time to celebrate Halley's 3rd birthday.  What a fun time for us to be with our special granddaughter and all of our family.

A few last minute purchases were made, we attended church together and then enjoyed some wonderful family time. We sent a farewell message to all our missionaries via facebook and received so many return notes of encouragement and support.  It was so fun.   Bags were all packed on Saturday so really....it was time for the adventure to begin.

Well it looks like you had a rather calm and fun family weekend before leaving for your wonderful assignment.
