Thousands of Latter Day Saints gathered to attend the long-awaited Rededication of the Mexico City Temple. We left Pres. Doxey's home about 6:45am to attend the 9am Sunday Session. We were seated in the third row in the Celestial Room and had eye contact with our dear Prophet, President Eyring, President Mickelson, Grow and Tenorio. It was personally a very rewarding experience to be involved with this historical moment of the church in Mexico. The Spirit was so very sweet as the messages, prayers and hymns were shared. We feel so very privileged to be called to be apart of this great latter day work of the Lord.
A cultural event was held in the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City the evening before the rededication of the temple. President Monson and President Eyring attended with Sister Eyring and Sister Dibbs, President Monson's daughter. We were seated in the box seats directly behind our General Authorities. It became cold in the night air and they were moved up closer to us. We were actually just one row from them. At times, President Cox was on the video directly behind them...he even waved...to his missionaries at home watching. President Monson's bodyguards were close and we were not able to even directly speak or shake hands with them...but they were the focus of our attention all night. We witnessed 7,000 good LDS young men and women perform the history of Mexico in dance and song. It was amazing. As the air turned cool, President Monson and Eyring were given ponchos to keep warm...and at one point there was a "Danza de los Viejitos" (dance of the old men) and they got up in their box seats and President Monson led President Eyring in a old man dance.....it was so cute. President Monson seemed so very fragile and I could sense the weight of this responsibility on his shoulders as he carried forth with determination this great work of the Lord. I loved to watch him as he waved to the groups of the youth performing. His hands represent his dedication, devotion and personal consecration to building the kingdom of God on the earth in these latter days....I am so grateful for these tender mercies of the Lord.This picture was taken as they waved to the 1,200 full time missionaries on the field singing "Called to Serve".
We spent Saturday evening with Presidente & Hermana Doxey of Mexico City South Mission. They are completing their last year here. They came with 6 children...so it was interesting comparing our experiences. Presidente Bulloch and his wife are on our right and the Doxey's are on our left. We were invited to attend because we have two stakes in our mission that are in this temple district. We drove and President Cox actually did quite well.....I can actually say, now that it is all over that we had "Joy in our Journey".

Wow, what a truly marvelous experience that must have been. I am sure this will be one of the "Highlights" of your missionary service. You two are such an example of ENDLESS service to your missionaries and the members of Leon. Thanks for sharing these joys.
My dear hermana Cox, what a marvelous post. I can feel of your love for our dear prophet, and the apostles. Aren't we blessed to be on the earth when we have apostles a prophets to lead us! We did get the broadcast of the dedication here, and could have attended, but it was in Spanish so we did not go. Now I wish I would have, so I could have seen you and presidente! Temple dedications are so very special. I will always remember the Fresno Temple dedication and what it meant to us to have that temple after so many years of traveling to LA or Oakland. And now we are getting one in closer proximity here in Phoenix. It is only 45 minutes to Mesa, but it will be nice to have a 15 minute journey once the temple here is competed. I wonder if we'll even still live here at that time...
Hope you have a really marvelous week. I will be thinking of you as we celebrate Thanksgiving this week. How I loved the special holiday times we spent with you at Granny Friend's house. Julie and Ava are coming to our house this week! We will spend some time with Rondaleen, too. Sending you love across the miles.

How neat to watch them from behind and just get to observe our amazing prophet and his couselor. You just seem to be continuously busy, doing the Lords Work and helping those missionaries BE their BEST!!
